So, I acquired the Watchmen comic, since I wanted to read it before seeing the movie*, and it has given me disquiet in my jibbly bits. I totally love the comic, I think people are quite right in talking it up as much as they do. And now Uncle Hollywood is creeping in and promising to be as gentle as a lamb** and I fear for this work of art, I really do.
Alan Moore is an angry, angry man when it comes to Hollywood, and I can see why, especially after seeing League. V for Vendetta was pretty good I thought, but then I'm yet to read the comic so it could be that the great bearded one has reason to throw his slings and arrows.
Just... all I ask. Mr Snyder. I know you aren't going to make everyone happy, but please. Don't fuck this up too badly.
*I saw League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen before reading the graphic novels. This was the right thing to do, since the books were totally awesome and the film was a steaming pile of fecal matter and so this way I didn't sit during the movie crying softly and vowing revenge. Quite so much.
** Bad taste reference to Once Were Warriors. Sorry.
