A Dan By Any Other Name

Soooo yeah.

I decided tonight that when Annah and I are lawfully wed*, I'll get my surname changed to her family name, which is Comyn.

I'm currently a Phillips, which is common as dirt, and Annah is pretty attached to her surname, being all old school Scottish nobility** and all. Secondary to its importance to Annah in my reasoning were a) hyphenated names are mostly stupid sounding, and b) I'm honestly not attached to my family name at all, in a historical family name sense.

Like all human beings I come from two immediate families and it's only because of silly male hereditary rules that I ended up as a Phillips. All four grandparent lines are just as valid to my personal history and whilst I've become more interested in that history, I don't feel that changing to a Comyn means I'm deserting any of that heritage.

The wedding is still vaguely planned for around the start of 2010. I'll keep you all informed.

* Or perhaps unlawfully, if we go with the train robbery themed wedding idea...
