My first day in the city was tourist tastic. I cruised around with Sarah and Richard, and we tromped all over the CBD getting crispy-crittered in the blazing sun. Currently I'm trying to remember that the weather isn't usually like this, as the last few days have been totally awesome.
We went up the cable car and checked out the gardens, we went into a geek store and I talked tabletop games with the girl behind the desk. We stumbled across an exhibit of seized illegal items being ran by the NZ customs office in civic square, and so I got to hold a 150 year old carved monkey skull, feel some amazingly soft african animal fur and check out assorted picked cobras and elephant tusks. Pretty sad, but also fascinating.
We met up with Andy for lunch, which was cool. And then later on that day we bussed over to Island Bay where Sarah lives, hung out with her flatmates for a bit and then Craig arrived and we drove around Lyall Bay and up through Mirimar on a general 'this is more of Wellington' tour.
Also had the best tasting battered fish EVER.
