Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell, the jawb interview which got shifted to Thursday went fairly well, in a 'I think this went fairly well but I'm not completely sure because maybe the lady who kept smiling at me was just being polite' kind of way.
The recruitment agency in question receives many, maaaaaany job applications so they're free to pick the award winning superstars of the region, but at the same time I was given a lot of good advice, such as don't send in your whole portfolio to a recruitment agency, because they sure as hell won't look at it. Cough.
I'm also going to be getting in touch with a plethora of printing firms, since it appears that what a lot of people look for in these parts is designers with a bit more prepress and printing experience than I currently have. What with the busy festive season approaching, I'm hoping to get a stint with a local printing place, and thus also gain some cred on my portfolio that shows I've worked in Australia and not just some nebulous place in far away kiwi-land that could have been ran by long haired savages and small flightless birds for all they know. Strewth.
Tomorrow brings The Busy as I create a resume version of my portfolio, put together a list of local (and not so local) printers to go visit in person and work on creating a nice looking CD type thing to give out to people.
The weather continues to be clement.
