Oh That's Right...

...I have this "blog" thing that I'm supposed to "blog" in about "bloggy" things. Well.

1) I am house sitting at Tamsyn and Vanessa's place while they kick it up big styles in SUNNY RAROTONGA. I have been making full use of their superior shower technology (mine is like getting pissed on by an incontinent badger) and feeding Fatty Cat who is a cat that is, yes, fat. She keeps trying to sleep on my laptop and cover it in black hair. I am having none of this. I'm missing Tamsyn but it sounds like she's having an amazing time so getting some cool holiday stories when she gets back will be neat.

2) Work is full of worky goodness. Doing full time for a while, which is obviously awesome, plus I now have TWO SCREENS to do designy things on! My direct boss is overseas for Burning Man for a few more weeks, so we design mice will play and have somewhat changed the production department around with new desks and such.

3) My mentee lost his cell phone (kids these days!!1etc) so staying in touch has been a bit challenging over the last week. I'm having a chat with the program leader on Monday to see what can be done about this state of affairs, but otherwise things are trundling along okay in that area. We're hopefully going to be obtaining a bunch of boards and spray cans soon and getting some of his mates over to do some graffiti style artwork.

4) I am getting back into the pushups after a period of not much exercise! Moving down and winter and a sore toe have all conspired to keep me from walking as much as I want to be, but I have the means to get some weights and find other ways to keep my activity levels up. So this week I shall be doing those things and making progress reports.

5) Trawling through the Sim City 4 community forums, I managed to find a to scale regional map of greater Wellington. It is huuuuuuuuuge! Like really enormous. So now I have my longterm nerdery project! I am going to build greater Wellington in Sim City, incorporating everything from Porirua down to Wellington city. It's gonna be epic. ^_^

6) And in related news, I'm upgrading my humble laptop this week, getting it more ram and harddrive space. I figure with these things and maybe a new monitor for it next fortnight, I can use it for another year without having to worry too much about getting a brand new computer to do designy things and games on. Plus having a macbook with a terabyte of space is pretty awesome and really quite cheap these days.
