I did really well this Christmas in the pressies department, and got:
Hallensteins voucher which basically built up my summer wardrobe of shorts and tees
Some socks (I genuinely love getting socks)
Really nice book about typography
Lovely new laptop/general roaming satchel
Aftershave to make me smell all manly and fresh
Moleskine diary type book for scribbling down ideas
Gordon Harris voucher for getting arts supplies and designy things
and a Decepticon transformers toy!
This was also a year that I was able to get my friends and family decent pressies, which was nice. I enjoyed doing horrendous gift wrapping which drove Tamsyn up the wall, especially the Frankenpresent that I gave to Vanessa.
Christmas eve/day was spent up in sunny Kandallah, Wellington, with Tamsyn and her lovely family. We discovered The Most Amazingly Tacky Shop Ever and got ourselves some awe inspiring 2011 sunglasses, which you can see in my previous post. That night Tamsyn and I went to a Christmas Eve service at a cute little church and sang some carols and watched candles being lit. It was pretty cool, though one of the songs was Away In A Manger which made me feel like I was back at Sunday School. We walked home that night to the sound of the church ringing its bells.
We did presents in the morning and then had friends of the clan show up for lunch which went really well. Om nom turkey. I got to meet some Younger Geek Friends of Tamsyn, who were really nice and had that cutting wry wit that marked them as One Of Us.
Then it was down to Jarrod and Steph's place that evening for more food (my belt was creaking by this point), booze and drunken rockband. And lo, it was fantastic and a good time was had by all.
Final score: A++ one of the best Christmasses ever, would festive it up again.
