Mentoring Long Distance

So it's just been confirmed that my mentee is heading to a new town, at the other end of the North Island. His mum's gotten a new job there, which is awesome, but I'm still having a bit of a sad. There's things we never got to do, including an important trip that was taking far too long to organise, due to various factors.

He's a really cool dude, and I hope he'll have a good support network in the new place he's going. I'm not even the first mentor in the group to have the team split up through distance... I think so far two mentors have moved away and one of the other kids have? Something like that, anyway. Life happens.

I guess apart from not seeing him any more I'll also have to examine how I can be of use to the rest of the mentoring group. Might look into doing something new at the end of the year.

In any case I got to meet some really amazing people, the coolest being my mentee.
