Idiot Box

Sometimes I think I might be missing out on vital pop culture experience by not watching the television, and truth be told I do, on those mad lonely howling nights, wish that I could be in on the conversations about Latest Awesome Sci Fi Show or Current Hilariously Shit Thing, but instead I have a cup of tea and the feeling subsides.

I think ideally I would have the pop culture knowledge beamed directly into my brain without having to actually sit through 2 to 3 hours of TV, and to a certain extent I achieve this anyway by browsing on the interwebs and reading the blogs of those brave enough to go trawling through those abyssal depths.

But for now I've fallen out of love with TV. The ads, the highly primitive notion of watching certain shows only at certain times, almost everyone who appears in front of the camera, these things are fingernails down the blackboard of my soul, and I am unwilling to re-accustom myself to the noise, even for cheap laughs.
