IMHO (man I hate it when people say that)

Feeling great today after another round of self mutila-I mean exercise followed by some work on a freelance design job in the afternoon.
Though despite this good humour I find myself wondering why I have people on my Facebook page who complete quiz after mind-numbingly, pants-wettingly inane quiz that tell you everything from what kind of personality you have, to what sex your next child is going to be, to what kind of house suits you best and why you and your partner no longer have sex but stare at each other with bitter, incriminating gazes and will divorce in five years time when you realize the only thing you had in common was the vague notion that filling the world with your weak, diluted seed was somehow a Good Thing.

These aren't my people. Why are they on my Facebook page? Because we went to the same high school is why. I'm starting to think that maybe I should have higher standards for who gets to be on my 'friends' list, because at the moment 'friends' actually means 'people I count as friends and also a bunch of distant acquaintances I haven't spoken to in ten years, have nothing in common with on a personal level and whose barrage of annoying facebook apps in my friends page drives me to write poorly structured nonsensical rants on my blog that could possibly also get me into trouble'.

The thing is, most of the people who are at the acquaintance level on my friends list are actually pretty cool so really the ideal solution here would be some kind of intimacy filter on Facebook that lets you choose how much crap from people you want to put up with. Those who think their lives revolve around their babies and future mortgage ambitions can be dialled back to something like a 'receive updates if their house gets hit by a meteor or they win a million dollars that you'd like to scab from' level of importance, whilst my closest friends can be brought up to 'took a quiz telling me what kind of death-metal playing hamster they would be and what they think of the latest Star Trek movie', with various levels in between.

I think we could be onto a winner here. Facebook, get onto that. I expect results on my desk by Monday.
