Resorting To Talking About Buzz

Yeah, it's one of THOSE blog posts where I can't be bothered thinking of something interesting to talk about, so instead I'll bleat on about my first day of playing around with Google Buzz.

I... hrmm. I'm kind of two minds about it right now, to be honest. On the one paw, every second Buzz post seems to find its way into my email inbox notifications, which given that Buzz is supposed to be integrated with my emails, means I get two notifications. Which is hugely retarded. But, yanno. This to me is a pretty simple bug to fix and I imagine they will. The system itself is kinda neat, for all that it's just a somewhat hyped up mass chat interface. I'm not convinced that making it a part of the email page was a great idea, but time will tell on that.

On the other hand, what it does do is provide a nice, simple way to chat with everyone at once on your gmail friends list, and share information quickly. Also, as I get more chats and threads going on, I can see how the system actually is a halfway decent competitor with Facebook in some ways, and hallelujah there's no annoying apps, quizzes or stupid groups going on, and no advertising either. Plus you can integrate your blogs and other updating websites with Buzz posts, which I like.

All in all I guess I'm cautiously leaning towards liking it, but will solidify my opinion as I see what its limitations are and how much attention Google gives it over the coming months.
