Uh, let's see. Emma's birthday was on Friday night, and was really fun. One of her friends made delicious cocktails, plus I had a fairly passable bottle of red wine. Emma and Simon were both host-tastic. Tamsyn met more of my friends and misc others and we stumbled home quite late, but not before stumbling up a rather steep hill to sit on a park bench which offered a beautiful view of the city at night.
Saturday was devoted to Tamsyn's mentor course graduation event, which was equal parts awesome (anything involving the kids and mentors) and hilariously awkward (anything involving the speaker dude trying to shoehorn the Christian faith into this kids book analogy... man, I don't even know. I'm a Christian and I found it cringeworthy) plus he also gave a short speech in Amusingly White Guy Accented Maori. After that we had delicious malaysian food for dinner since there was a food fair thing on conveniently right next to the town hall.
Sunday I helped out doing packhorse things with boxes and bags of groceries, and then we hiked up the hill to see Jarrod and Steph (with sprinkles of Andy) for a short visit where gin was consumed. I'm growing somewhat partial to gin, especially with ice and lime. Delish. And then it was back home for Tamsyn and Vanessa's patented Shopping Day Meal which HOLY CRAP IS AMAZING. Seriously, my tongue almost left my mouth so it could stay in Wellington and squelchily creep around their kitchen like a demented food obsessed slug, it was that good.
And just like that, the weekend was over and I am exhausted. As always I didn't get to see half the people I would have liked to, so my apologies to those of you I didn't catch up with. Tomorrow is going to be spent drawing comicy things and applying for more non design jobs so I can get my arse into gear with moving south.
