Mentoring Shenanigans

Geez louise. Flaming Nora, even. As they say. Well, not 'they' really, more like one crazy person who was in my design class. Oh you and your Old Farm Wife expressions!

Anyway where was I. Oh yes. I am tired! Today was long, especially on a mild hangover and not enough sleep, but also very fun. C4C had a careers day which consisted of taking our mentees along to the High Court and TVNZ, where two of the mentors work.

At the High Court we played out a scripted case in which the two program leaders were on trial for murder. Me and my mentee got to be the two judges, so we lounged about in our robes in the judge's room first, then swanned out and made everyone stand before we got to sit down at the bench and listen to the rest of the proceedings. Then we decided to sentence the leader who was found guilty to a lifetime of cleaning toilets in maximum security prison.

Firm, but fair.

After a lunch out in the sun outside parliament it was off to TVNZ, where we conducted on-camera interviews and watch the footage that had been shot of the mock trial being edited. The interviews will be shown at the mentoring graduation ceremony, which I think is about 9 weeks away. I took an interest in the editing process; the dude worked on a program that looked functionally very similar to Final Cut Pro, which is what we use to put together our 48 Hour Film Comp movies.

Then it was back up the hill where I promptly exploded out of my nice suit jacket and waistcoat and flopped down onto the couch in my lovely fluffy dressing down and track pants. Loungey Dan is loungey for the rest of the day.
