Mum and dad came down to Wellington last weekend, and we did the Official Meeting of the Tribes, in which Tamsyn's people met mine and we exchanged cultural artifacts and stories of our ancestral homelands. I now have a fetching bone nose piercing from Tamsyn's father and I believe her mum received my family's sacred five ton rock, that we wheeled down from Hamilton especially on wooden rollers. It'll look stunning by the flower garden plus it makes for a handy paper weight.
So the meeting went well and we ate delicious things and everyone had a lovely evening. The rest of the time they were down we did Wellington touristy things like visit the museum and go up the cable car and back down through the botanic gardens, where we happened across the leader of the Labour party, New Zealand's Phil Goff. He and his wife were enjoying the day and so I resisted the urge to leap at his person and scream about undoing the works of the National party and merely settled for small talk about how nice the gardens were. Also my dad made first contact by bearing down on him and booming 'I've seen you on TV!'
I have more things to talk about but it's rather late and I'm falling asleep. So there can be more bloggingness tomorrow.
