Readings and Klezmer

Life is ticking by. Found myself in a bit of a surly mood over the last few days, though generally things are pretty good. The study is now set up in it's basic iteration with the table delivered and everything in place. Still waiting for my boss to bring over the old office chair that I took from work, which ended up in her car and is now hanging out in her garage, presumably being colonised by spiders and dust mites.

Having my brain stretched by postgrad work is very nice and I currently am working my way through a small mountain of readings. That's basically the core of the higher echelons of the tertiary study experience; ploughing your way through lots and lots of dry, academic writing and condensing it down into digestible morsels, deciding what you think about what you've just read then finding a clever way to say it. Currently I'm at the digesting stage but I'm having some very interesting conversations with other students on the forums which is causing my think meats to percolate appropriately.

I went to the wedding of some old family friends of Tamsyn's, which turned out to be my first Jewish wedding experience and it was great fun. They got married under the chupah, broke the glass and shouted Mazel Tov, hoisted the couple up onto chairs, danced in big circles while holding hands and there was an amazing klezmer band that seemed a teensy bit surreal after so many Hollywood movies that couldn't help themselves but use said music the moment anything vaguely Jewish appeared.
It was a lovely evening, I met a bunch of very nice people and the venue was beautiful; they got married at the renovated boat shed function centre on the waterfront which offered a gorgeous view of the city as the sun went down and all the lights came on.
