Postgrad And Other Misadventures

Man, livejournal eh? I think maybe 10% of the people in my friends list post to LJ with any kind of regularity now. Most of the regular posts I get are from communities and even a lot of them have died off. So with that in mind I've synched my blawg up to my faceybooks, which imports it into sexy note form for your reading "pleasure".

POSTGRADUATE STUDY™ has begun! I was a bit nervous to start out with. I did well at UCOL, especially in my final year, but I felt like now I was up against the big kids who'd been much more academic for longer. My degree program was brand spanking new when we started it, and the transition from diploma involved us cramming a lot of the research and writing part of design into the last year.

BUT! It turns out that my goodly degree tutors did a stirling job and I've been able to hold my own over the first couple sessions of discussing dense reading material such as the essay 'A Pattern Made of Holes' by Carter, who takes sadistic glee in peppering his writing with malignant words like 'polysemous', 'polyvalency' and 'mythopoetically'. All in the same paragraph.
