Mum and dad are coming down at the end of August and I'm pretty excited about it. I don't get to see them much, though lately we've been talking more over Skype. They're spending a few days in a hotel conveniently just down the road from where I live, and we'll be having dinner with Tamsyn's family, hopefully catching up with some of my friends for a couple of drinks, and otherwise hanging out in wintery Wellington. Whoo yeah! Plus of course we are going up to Hamilton for Christmas, as previously mentioned. I miss my folks, it's nice spending time with them when I can.
I've been painting up some space marines (pictured: not mine) as I sit aroond the hoose. I'm still finding it difficult to concentrate on school texts when I'm on pain medication, and since the nurse has recommended I walk around every hour or so, I've had to up the tremadol a bit. But as it happens painting is still pretty easy and also very relaxing, and I've been relearning how to apply nice looking blue highlights to ultramarine miniatures and leafing through various Games Workshop books looking at the pretty pictures. Ben comes over when he has the spare time to paint with me, plus I'm going to be undertaking painting afternoons with some of the boys when I'm mobile again.
The FEETS are healing. Righty is looking pretty swish apart from this fairly gross wound on the bottom, but oy, Lefty is still a real mess. Healing very slowly, still quite bloody and black looking, and painful as hell to stand on. It throbs like a mofo for ages after walking, hence the strong pain relief. However, it's not infected as far as anyone can tell, so I just have to be patient.
Next week I'm hoping to get back into school stuff, even if it's just an hour or so a day to begin with.
